Indulge Me a Moment

I try not to be superstitious, but I sort of have a “thing” for patterns. So please bear with me a moment while I lay something out here. Sorry- it’s a little (or maybe a lot) dumb.

Cole’s due date was October 24th. That also happened to be the 10th anniversary of the first date John and I went on. He ended up being born the next day.

Now, if I get pregnant this month, the estimated due date would be in late June. Late June happens to be 1)John’s (30th!) birthday and 2) Our (8th) wedding anniversary.

The first kid on our first date, the second on the day we married.

How fucking cool would that be?

I am a pattern person too, particularly with numbers and dates.

That would be very cool :^) Fingers crossed.

Ohhh, didn’t know you were trying! How fun! Good luck!!

(yeah, it would be cool – way cool!)

    History Mystery

Have a history teacher explain this—– if they can.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.

    Now it gets really weird.

    Lincoln’s secretary was named Kennedy.
    Kennedy’s Secretary was named Lincoln.

    Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named ‘Ford.’
Kennedy was shot in a car called ‘Lincoln’ made by ‘Ford.’

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

    And here’s the kicker…

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe , Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

My son was, I’m 90% sure, conceived in a tent on Canada Day. (July 1; I’m Canadian.) Does that count for anything?

Here’s a really wild set of coincidences:

When we were travelling through North Carolina some years ago, we happened across another family whose children were each a couple years older than mine. My children at the time were Sarah Elizabeth and Adam James, and I was pregnant with our third. Our name choices for The Bump were Daniel John and Rebekah Louise.

Her three children were Elizabeth Sarah, Rebecca Elise, and James Daniel. She was pregnant with their fourth, which they knew to be a boy. They’d chosen Adam John for him.

    What are the odds?
