Conversational Retard

This picture just captures conversations with me perfectly: I’m talking with my hands, saying blahblahsomethingIthinkisimportantblah, putting my trapped audience of one to sleep, and, unbeknownst to me, Cole is trying to undo my sweater buttons.

Aren’t you glad you didn’t meet me at BlogHer?

couldn’t you have come up with a better title than conversational retard? that word is so demeaning to people with special needs. but you don’t have to have a family member with special needs to know how slurs and stereotypes can hurt.
as the mom of a daughter with special needs I always think that people who use the word retard as slang just don’t know any better.
    now you do.
thanks for listening to this mom’s point of view.

OK, now I know we’re related: darker hair, cute, can’t talk if sitting on hands, don’t know when to stop talking. Oh, yeah – we’re in the same family.
