Oy Vey! The Drama!

The ladies here at work all want to get together with me next week so that we can say farewell before I take off. They are going to meet me for lunch at a nearby restaurant. However, they don’t want the woman who temped for me to come because most of them don’t like her. While I’m certainly not her biggest fan (she’s the one who unknowingly condemned me to burn in hell after a painful death), I’ve been left out of fun things before in my life more than I really like to admit or remember. And it hurts to be left out. But one of the ladies here has sort of adopted me as her work daughter and she’s the one who hates the temp the most. She won’t go if the temp goes and I really want her there.

Wait, it gets worse.

Yesterday the temp came up to me and told me that she’s really going to miss me and that I’m the only one here she can trust or talk to. (Stab!Stab! Into my heart!)

So how do I manage to not hurt her feelings but still get to say goodbye to my work friends?

I know it’s kind of trivial, but it still really sucks.

Maybe you can organize lunch with just the temp and you. so the temp girl won’t feel left out. say something like “oh the other girls and I are having lunch next week but I want to have lunch with you before I leave too, how about next Tues?…etc”

Then you won’t feel bad temp girl doen’t get to come along with the other lunch b/c you already had lunch with her.

    hope that helps.

Doesn’t this lead to a new problem, though? Now, because of Heels, the temp knows that the rest of the office doesn’t like her. Does Heels want to leave this offie having caused this kind of a problem?

My suggestion is to tell the other ladies in the office that you want the temp to come and if this going away is really for you then they should be willing to be there no matter who you want there.

(You do have to realize that I’d never acutally follow my suggestion, I’m not nearly as strong a person as Heels is.)

She doesn’t have to tell the temp that she’s having lunch with her alone because no one lese likes her. It could be because she said she felt like Heels was the only one she could talk to.

Thank you, everyone, for the discussion of my “issue”. However, I have it solved as best I can:
I will go out on Wednesday with the two women who hate the temp and Thursday with the rest of the ladies Including the temp. Only a few will be the wiser, the temp (I hope) not being one of them.

I tried asking them to buck up and fucking be adults already, but the ones that hate her were having none of it. Whatever…

Did you offer the ones who hate her some of Cole’s diapers, since they’re obviously in need of them?

No, but perhaps I should offer to burp them. Maybe their irritableness is due to gas bubbles. That would make a lot of sense…
